You may know Tuk Tuks from the streets of Bangkok or Bangalore — open-air, three-wheeled vehicles zipping through city streets. Our Lucky Tuk Tuks are the modern, fully electric version of that idea. They hold up to six people, handle San Francisco’s hills like a champ, and can slip into charming neighborhoods and side streets where big buses aren’t allowed. It’s a fun, up-close, and eco-friendly way to see the city — zero emissions and maximum smiles.
Yes! Every Lucky Tuk Tuk tour is a fully private adventure just for your group. Think of it as your own personal storyteller, photographer, and local friend showing you their favorite corners of San Francisco. No strangers, no rushing — just your crew, your route, and your pace.
A Tuk Tuk seats 5 adults comfortably, but is built to seat up to 6 guests total. For everyone’s comfort, we suggest 5 adults per Tuk. Six guests works well for families and groups with children ages 3+.
Short answer: more fun and way more flexible. Hop-on hop-off buses are big, can’t go on many city streets, and mostly cover the same major tourist stops. Our little electric Tuk Tuks can slip into neighborhoods, scenic streets, and hidden viewpoints that big buses simply can’t reach. You get a private guide, custom route, photo stops on request, and an eco-friendly ride that feels like an adventure, not a commute.
Yes — we’re very family-friendly and kids usually think the Tuk Tuk is the coolest thing ever. Children ages 3 and up are welcome on private tours (we suggest ages 5+ for the most comfort and attention span). Please note: no children or infants under age 3 and no lap seating — everyone must have their own seatbelt. Booster seats are available on request; just let us know ahead of time.
Absolutely. We host solo travelers all the time. Our pricing is based on a 2-seat minimum, so if you’re riding solo you’ll simply book 2 seats and add a note that you’re a solo traveler. We don’t combine private groups, so once you book, the Tuk Tuk is all yours.
No strenuous activity is required. However, Tuk Tuks do have a high step, so guests need to be able to step in and out of the vehicle. Your guide will have a folding step stool to make getting in and out easier for those who need a leg up.
Yes. Our electric Tuk Tuks are fully street-legal, meet California safety requirements, and are driven by trained, professional guides. You’ll be buckled in, comfy, and taken care of while we handle the hills and traffic.
Unfortunately, there’s no extra storage space on the Tuk Tuk. All personal items need to fit on your lap or at your feet. Small folding mobility aids may sometimes be accommodated, but we can’t store large strollers, luggage, or walkers. If you’re unsure, reach out before booking and we’ll help you decide what works.
Definitely. One of the best parts of a private Tuk Tuk tour is that it’s your day, your way. Want more scenic overlooks and skyline views? More neighborhoods and murals? More “only-the-locals-know” spots? Tell your guide what you love and we’ll shape the route around your interests.
Yes, we do! Lombard Street — the famous “Crookedest Street in the World” — is a highlight of our private Lucky Tuk Tuk tours. You’ll zigzag down the flower-lined curves of Russian Hill in an open-air Tuk Tuk while we handle the traffic and parking. You just sit back, enjoy the views, and get ready for fun commentary and unforgettable photos. If traffic is extremely heavy, we may stop at a nearby viewpoint instead.
On most daytime and night tours, yes! Your guide can take you to some of the best Golden Gate Bridge viewpoints like Crissy Field, Fort Point, or Battery East overlook. It’s a true bucket-list moment: the bridge’s International Orange towers, the bay, the city skyline, and your crew in a Tuk Tuk — camera roll, get ready.
You’ll absolutely get out! Our Ultimate private Group City Tours and Evening/Night Tours include multiple chances to hop out, stretch your legs, explore, and take lots of photos. Your guide is there to make it memorable — they’ll suggest great photo spots, share stories, and happily play photographer for your group.
Yes — and not just quick snaps from the seat. All of our tours are designed with Instagram-worthy photo stops built in. We’ll pause at viewpoints, murals, and classic landmarks so you can get those “only in San Francisco” shots with your Tuk Tuk front and center.
Yes — we’ve got you. Our vehicles have heated seats, cozy blankets, and clear weather covers when needed. That said, San Francisco loves to surprise people with chilly breezes (thanks, Karl the Fog), so dressing warmly is key to staying comfy and enjoying the ride.
Layers are your best friend in San Francisco. We recommend a light jacket or fleece, long pants, and comfortable closed-toe shoes. Even on sunny days, it can feel cool on the waterfront and hilltops. Please leave bulky backpacks and large bags at home — anything you bring needs to fit on your lap or at your feet.
We run tours in light rain and fog — it can actually make the city feel extra atmospheric. We’ve got ponchos, blankets, and clear rain covers to keep you as dry and cozy as possible. If a major storm rolls in and it’s not safe or fun to be out, we’ll cancel the tour and offer a full refund or reschedule. Safety always comes first.
Our Private Group City Tours and Sunset/Night Tours can usually be changed or canceled up to 24 hours in advance for a full refund. No-shows and late arrivals are not refunded or rescheduled. If you’re unsure about your timing, it’s always better to reach out early so we can help.
Alcatraz and City Tour Combo sales are final. Because Alcatraz is a very popular National Park and tickets are strictly controlled, there are no changes, refunds, or cancellations once booked. Combo tickets must be reserved at least 96 hours in advance, and this combo requires participation in both the Tuk Tuk City Tour and the Alcatraz portion on the same day.
National Park Passes do not apply to Alcatraz tickets, orders are limited to 8 tickets, and Alcatraz Cruises (a National Park Service concessionaire) operates the ferry and audio tour. Rates and availability are subject to change without notice.
Our guides are paid, but if they gave you a great experience (and we hope they do!), a tip is a wonderful way to say thanks. Most guests tip around 15–20%. It also means a lot if you mention your guide by name in any reviews you leave.
No food or alcohol may be consumed on board the Tuk Tuk. Non-alcoholic drinks in plastic bottles or containers (no glass, please) are okay. We want to keep the vehicles clean and comfortable for everyone.
Our day and evening private tours have a central meeting point in Fisherman’s Wharf:
2870 Hyde Street, San Francisco, CA 94109
Corner of Hyde Street and Jefferson Street, next to the Argonaut Hotel.
Pick-up details:
Please arrive 5–10 minutes early. Late arrivals and no-shows will forfeit their tour without refund or reschedule. We do not offer hotel pick-up.
At night, San Francisco feels like a whole new city. Landmarks glow, neighborhoods sparkle, and the skyline lights up. The Night & City Lights Tour focuses on illuminated landmarks, skyline views, and dramatic nighttime photo stops, giving you a totally different, bucket-list version of San Francisco compared to daytime.
Typical highlights may include:
Routes may vary slightly based on what looks most spectacular that evening — your guide will chase the best views for you.
Yes — your guide can take you to some of the best nighttime viewpoints near the Golden Gate Bridge, such as Crissy Field, Fort Point, or Battery East. Seeing those International Orange towers glowing against the night sky is one of those “we’re really in San Francisco” moments.
Night tours are typically 2 hours, with the option to extend to 3 hours if you’d like more time for extra viewpoints and photo stops.
Yes. Kids enjoy the glowing city lights and the sense of adventure. As with all our tours, children must be at least 3 years old and buckled into their own seat — no lap seating is allowed.
Absolutely. Your guide will make multiple nighttime photo stops and help capture those skyline, bridge, and city-lights shots your group will love sharing.
You’ll enjoy two big San Francisco experiences in one day:
If your Alcatraz ferry departs within 1 hour after your city tour ends, we’ll drop you directly at Pier 33 Alcatraz Landing 30–60 minutes before departure. If your ferry leaves more than an hour later, we’ll drop you at PIER 39, where you can relax, eat, and stroll before walking to Pier 33 on your own.
You’ll typically spend 2–3 hours on Alcatraz Island before returning by ferry to Pier 33. Return transportation to your hotel or other destinations is not included.
No. This combo requires participation in both the Tuk Tuk City Tour and the Alcatraz portion on the same day. Alcatraz tickets are always booked for the same date as your sightseeing tour and cannot be changed.
Your Alcatraz experience includes:
The Alcatraz ferry departs from Pier 33, Alcatraz Landing, on the San Francisco waterfront. Tickets are held at pre-paid Will Call at the Alcatraz Cruises dock at Pier 33. Bring a valid photo ID that matches the name on the reservation and arrive at the ticket booth 30–45 minutes before your scheduled ferry time. Tickets cannot be picked up before the tour date.
Most visitors spend about 1.5 to 3 hours on Alcatraz Island. You can take any returning ferry back to Pier 33, as long as you catch the last boat of the day.
Alcatraz Island is steep and has uneven pavement, but the SEAT (Sustainable Easy Access Transport) tram is available for wheelchair users and guests who cannot comfortably walk the quarter-mile 12% incline. Only certified service animals are allowed on Alcatraz Island.
Important: All Alcatraz Combo sales are final. There are absolutely no changes, refunds, or cancellations once tickets are booked. Combo tickets must be reserved at least 96 hours in advance. National Park Passes do not apply, and ticket orders are limited to eight per person.
Alcatraz is a National Park, and Alcatraz Cruises (a concessionaire of the National Park Service) operates the ferry and Cellhouse audio tour. Exchange, refund, discount, or cancellation requests are not permitted. Rates and schedules are subject to change without notice. Return transportation from Pier 33 to your hotel or other destinations is not included.
We do — and we’re always excited for the lucky recipients! On any of our tour pages, you can click the Gift Certificate option to purchase a Lucky Tuk Tuk experience as a gift. It’s a fun way to wrap a future San Francisco adventure.
Lucky Tuk Tuk gift certificates are available in two fixed values: $420.00 and $640.00. They can be applied toward any private 2 or 3-hour Tuk Tuk sightseeing tour.
Gift certificates are delivered instantly by email as a digital code. You can print the email or forward it to the recipient whenever you’re ready to surprise them.
No. Lucky Tuk Tuk gift certificates never expire. The digital code stays valid until the full value has been used.
Your festive holiday ride includes:
Each tour is a little different — your guide knows which areas look the most magical on any given night.
The Holiday Lights Tour runs about 1.5 hours and is packed with glowing photo stops, festive neighborhoods, and lots of holiday cheer.
Each Tuk Tuk seats up to 6 guests. Larger groups can reserve multiple Tuk Tuks for a festive holiday caravan.
Yes! The Holiday Lights tour is a private experience just for your group and is very kid-friendly. Children love the lights, music, Santa hats, and hot chocolate. As always, all children must have their own seatbelt and be at least 3 years old.
Yes — whenever traffic allows, we drive down the famous Crooked Street on Lombard, which looks especially fun and festive at night. If it’s too busy, we’ll make a scenic stop nearby for photos instead.
No. The 1.5-hour Holiday Lights route focuses on holiday trees, decor, and city lights rather than the bridge. If you want more Golden Gate time, consider pairing the Holiday Lights tour with a daytime or city lights tour on another night.
Dress for winter in San Francisco — even if the calendar says otherwise! Layers, hats, gloves, and warm coats are recommended. We’ll bring blankets and optional weather covers to help keep everyone cozy.
Yes! We love groups. We can arrange a multi-Tuk Tuk caravan for families, company outings, holiday parties, birthdays, proposals, reunions, and team-building events. It’s one of the most fun and memorable ways for a group to explore San Francisco together.
Absolutely. Tell us what you’re dreaming up — extra photo stops, romantic viewpoints, office holiday fun, themed routes — and we’ll help design a custom experience tailored to your group’s vibe.
If you have any other questions, special requests, or big ideas, just call, text, or email us. We’re happy to help you build the perfect Tuk Tuk adventure in San Francisco.
